By Interview by Roni Singleton-Macaroni Kid College Park-East Point-Morrow October 24, 2014
The Headless Horseman of Silly Hollow opens on October 28 at Center for Puppetry Arts. An audience favorite, the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers bring their unique brand of hip humor to the famous Washington Irving short story. In this comedic version, schoolteacher Ichabod Crane helps the Headless Horseman find a new head and a spookier image.

Macaroni Kid College Park-East Point-Morrow had a chance to ask Erik, Brian and Robin Torbeck of Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers some questions about this always popular show!

1. Families have continued to come back to see this show year after year. What makes it so beloved by audiences?
We are so glad audiences are enjoying the show. Halloween is a fun time of year for families, and we created the "Headless Horseman of Silly Hollow" to provide a Halloween show that the whole family can come to and enjoy together. I think presenting a traditionally spooky Halloween story as a comedy has been one of the main reasons for its popularity.

2. Can audiences expect anything new this year?
The show is always evolving. We're constantly tweaking a line here and there or adding new dance moves, but the basic comedic storyline is the same.

3. We're certainly into the 'spooky' season but the idea of a headless horseman sounds like it could be scary to young audiences. So is it truly all silly or will kids be freaked out by anything?
The "Headless Horseman of Silly Hollow", for the most part, is not scary.  Especially not the Headless Horseman himself! In the very beginning we have a brief moment that includes some thunder sound effects and dim lighting...but the show gets ridiculous quickly.

4. What is your team's favorite moment in the show?
One of our favorite moments is a dance scene between Ichabod and Katrina. We got a chance to work in some classic hits from the 1980's, and making puppets dance 'The Robot' is always enjoyable.
