Hi Lovely Souls of Decatur Macaroni Kid!

How are you? How is your summer kicking off? I love the summers because there is so much daily fun to be had. Be sure to have summer fun galore. Take a look at our calendar and pick something for every day of the week.

I welcome you to implement my personal article of How To Encourage Learning During The Summer. It is so imperative that we keep our children learning throughout the summer months. Minds should not be allowed to go totally idle. Take it higher. Help your child take it higher.

Here are some immediate things to take note of.

  1. Zoo Atlanta is accepting applications and scholarships for their Zoo Atlanta Safari Camp. Click here for more details. Zoo Atlanta has a lot of great events planned. Please check out their calendar of events and summer camps. You will not be disappointed.

  1. Tuesday night I had the pleasure of attending the opening night Mamma Mia at the Fox Theatre and it was awesomely dynamic! Yes, I described it as AWESOMELY DYNAMIC. Mamma  Mia is the eighth longest running show in Broadway history!  It has run for more than ten years on the Broadway stage. One of only five musicals to ever do that. This is their final farewell tour. Check them out and sing along with “Dancing Queen” “S.O.S.,” “Take a Chance on Me” and more. Article coming soon. The performance schedule is as follows:

    1. Tuesday, June 13th, Wednesday, June 14th and Thursday, June 15th at 7:30 p.m.

    2. Friday, June 16th at 8 p.m.

    3. Saturday, June 17th at 2 p.m., 8 p.m.

    4. Sunday, June 18th at 1 p.m., 6:30 p.m.

  1. Wednesday night I went to see Horizon Theatre’s ‘Nobody Loves You’ in Piedmont Park  and really enjoyed it. I will definitely be seeking out more theatre from them. Article coming soon.

  1. There was a GREAT media event this week at the Children’s Museum. The national touring exhibit The Blue Man Group – Making Waves is here! From Saturday, June 10th through Monday, September 4th they will teach children a thrilling way to create music with found-objects. I have personally seen them in Orlando and they are hilarious and amazing at the same time. I am viewig it this week and promise to do an article for you.

  1. Fernbank Science cannot be left out. They have a new special exhibit titled  Mammoths and Mastodons, and the new Giant Screen film, Titans of the Ice Age. I will view it this weekend and promise to do an article for you on this as well.

Father’s Day is a BIG DEAL in my life. I am a Daddy’s girl to my heart and LOVE to show my appreciation to my Father like I do my Mother on Mother’s Day. Here is a roundup or two of ways to celebrate Father’s Day with the special men in your life. There are even complimentary family fun ways to celebrate as well.
