10 Places to Celebrate Hanukkah in Atlanta

The year Hanukkah begins at sundown on December 12 and ends on Dec. 20. During that time, there are lots of fun events throughout the metro Atlanta area. Come on out and enjoy menorah lightings and specialty foods!


 1.   Grand menorah lighting at Avondale Estates

December 12, 2017, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

2.   Menorah Lightings and Haunukkah Celebrations at Zaban Park

All are invited to 3 days of Hanukkah fun and celebration at the JCC! Each night will feature Hanukkah songs with Rabbi G, cooking demonstrations with Chef Howard, followed by the lighting of the Hanukkah Menorah and a short performance.

·         Tuesday, Dec. 12, 5:15 pm - Performance by J Dance Company

·         Wednesday, Dec. 13, 5:15 pm - Camp Songs by JCC Day Camps

·         Thursday, Dec. 14, 5:15 pm - Magic Show featuring "Howie the Great!"

Complimentary Sufganiyot (jelly donuts) and hot chocolate will be served, courtesy of the MJCCA Membership Department. This event is FREE and open to people of all faiths and backgrounds! 3.   Grand menorah lighting and ice skating at Atlantic Station

December 13, 2017, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Lighting will take place in Central Park on the balcony. There will be ice skating and a menorah lighting at Atlantic Station to celebrate Hanukkah! 4.   Grand menorah lighting at Ponce City Market

December 14, 2017, 6 p.m.

5.   Grand menorah lighting at Virginia-Highland

December 17, 2017, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

6.   Grand menorah lighting at Decatur Square

December 18, 2017, 6 p.m to 8 p.m.

7.   Promukkah

December 16, 2017, 8 PM

Grab your bow ties, fancy clothes, and dancing shoes and join Interfaith Families for their annual prom-themed Hanukkah party, Promukkah! Enjoy drinks and noshes (food), music and dancing, a photo booth (with take-home magnets!), corsage- and boutonniere-making station, vintage prom-themed movies, and live entertainment. 8.   Celebrate Hanukkah at the Atlanta Children’s Museum

December 17, 2017, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Dance and sing along to class Hanukkah songs, learn from Hanukkah stories that tell the tales of the Maccabees’ bravery and the miracle of the Hanukkah lights, and unravel the traditions of eating chocolate coins and latkes. 9.   “Garden Lights, Holiday Nights" at Atlanta Botanical Garden

December 13, 2017, 6p.m.

10.      Light the Chanukiah at Town Brookhaven

Monday, December 18 at 6:00 p.m.

Come be with The Temple community and Rabbi Loren Filson Lapidus to light the candles for the seventh night of Chanukah at Town Brookhaven. They will join with Rabbi Micah Lapidus and members of The Davis Academy community in gathering at 6:00 PM for some singing and lighting the chanukiah at 6:15 PM.
