On Sunday, July 19th I held a presentation of Coping Skills for Kids in Old 4th Ward Park. Let me set the stage for you. We were masked up and my guests were all tuned in to learn all about Coping Skills for Kids. Right now we need this more than ever because we are experiencing challenges and we need the tools to manage this the best way possible. Thanks to Janine we were very well equipped.

We had four activity books, an Ultimate Playdate Guide, and a Coping Skills for Kids Workbook. Our message was targeted to adults about their mini-me and they were ready to listen and kids were ready to engage.  Imagine seven to ten adults engaged as we discussed how to help them manage and guide their children through so many emotions such as anxiety, anger, stress, uneasiness, relaxation, distraction, and more. This is the perfect boulevard to the talks you should and need to have with your children no matter what their age. Janine even offers Coping Skills for Teens Workbook. How cool is that? Our teens are gratefully remembered as well.

In my opinion this set of tools for families who want to get it is an excellent share. Coping Skills for any age can be a monumental task to teach and learn however Janine breaks it down into group play and/or age-appropriate group talks for youth form kids and adolescents. The list of tools is never-ending and embracing the emotional process of journaling, cue cards, and breathing. It was truly delightful to share this experience with parents as we learned together.

Our presentation began with popsicles, parents, and positivity. The Happiness Journal was an excellent resource, to begin with. It showed the younger kids how to express themselves through art and/or journaling. We began with an overview of happiness. What happiness means to each other and one another. We covered Processing, Sensory, Distraction, Relaxation, and Movement through a good discussion and a storyboard.  Besides the real little humans present, I assigned them to take on the roles of Polly and Paul, Susie and Sully, Dixie and Dexter, Roxie and Rex, and Mona and Moe. A ball was had by all and the best part was no one knew they were even they were learning coping skills. It was a major hit.

Coping Skills for Kids is an ingenious baby and think tank of Janine Halloran, LMHC. She founded and birthed the entire concept in 2015. The value of healthy learning early in life is priceless. Through her work and development as a counselor, you get successfully coping early in life which teaches results, resilience, and readiness. Simply stated...

“Janine wanted to create a place where parents could get resources to teach their child how to cope. Coping Skills for Kids provides products and resources to help kids learn to cope with the daily challenges of life. Janine has created digital products you can download immediately to help support children. The products are made to be used with either a family member or another trusted adult, like a school counselor or therapist.”

As the adult child of a retired licensed clinical social worker of Dekalb County Schools, I must concur with these beautiful products and say job well done Janine.  Whether you are exploring her actual products or digital products you will be pleasantly surprised. I recommend The Ultimate Playdate Guide, My Happiness Journal, and The Coping Cue Cards™
