I just love this kind of news. Have you heard the good news? Elsa Mathew-Lewis, of Decatur High School, is our Bank of America Student Leader. This is the kind of good news I love celebrating and shouting out to our community. Five Metro Atlanta high school students were selected as Bank of America Student Leaders to work with East Lake Foundation this summer. Our Elsa Mathew-Lewis was one of the well-deserved five.
Since 2004, the program connects high-achieving teens from diverse backgrounds to a paid summer internship with a local nonprofit organization, helping them gain employment experience and critical job skills. Elsa Mathew-Lewis will also participate in an all-expense paid week-long leadership summit in Washington D.C. this summer.
“By providing the pathways and resources for young adults to gain the foundational work skills and leadership experience they need to succeed, we are investing in our community’s long-term economic growth,” said Al McRae, president, Bank of America Atlanta. “The teens selected for this paid summer intern program are truly extraordinary but may not have had access to opportunities like this until now. The Student Leaders program is just one example of how we connect people to meaningful employment resources that also builds a stronger pipeline of diverse talent for our local workforce.”
