The Blessing of the Animals is a wonderful opportunity for people of all backgrounds in all our surrounding communities to come together, honor the beautiful animals that we love so much, and confirm their blessings by the Spirit of God.” said Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Todd Speed at Decatur Presbyterian Church.

Decatur Presbyterian Church, located at 205 Sycamore St, Decatur, GA 30030, will host its annual Blessing of the Pets on September 28th in the church’s Terrace Garden at the corner of Church Street and Sycamore. All pet owners and their furry friends are welcome to attend this family-friendly event.

Everyone is invited to bring their pets to be blessed by a pastor. Following the blessing, there will be a series of fun contests with prizes for various categories, including best trick, best dressed, and best owner look-alike.

The Blessing of the Animals, traditionally held in the fall, is often associated with St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology. Decatur Presbyterian Church recognizes the significant impact pets have on our families and spiritual journeys.

Please remember to bring your own seating for this special occasion and to practice pet safety by asking permission to pet an animal first.
