A Legacy of Conservation and Collaboration
The year 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of Zoo Atlanta's giant panda program. Beginning in the mid-1990s, the zoo has collaborated with partners in China to improve the care, research, and preservation of giant pandas. These pandas have become an integral part of the zoo, with seven births since 2006, including two sets of twins. Several of their progeny are now at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China.

Reflecting on the pandas' legacy, Raymond B. King, President and CEO of Zoo Atlanta, states: "Although we will deeply miss Lun Lun, Yang Yang, Ya Lun, and Xi Lun, and their departure is tinged with sadness, they leave behind a remarkable legacy in Atlanta and beyond.
